Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose: This position will use end-to-end supply chain expertise & leadership to develop, deliver and support effective Operating Plans to achieve significant improvements across a balanced scorecard in quality, cost, delivery, morale and safety. This position will be responsible for defining and executing to plant supply chain strategy aligned with the division strategy. Position reports direct to the plant manager, dotted line to the NA Regional Supply Chain Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the functional areas of planning, shipping, receiving, finished goods inventory, ware handling, material purchasing and stores.
  • Lead and participate in S&OP process and develop/support short-term plans, long term capacity planning, and budget preparations for the facility. Direct interface with the Demand Management team, Commercial Forecast team and Product Line teams.
  • Advance SAP utilization and reports to improve data usage and increase Operations efficiencies and fiber consumption.
  • Develop and maintains inventory plan in order to meet customer requirements; develop strategies to increase inventory turns, reduce costs, and optimize customer service. Identify methods and processes to improve velocity of material moving through the plant.
  • Lead and direct the Production Schedulers and Material Planners to meet customer demand while managing operational and capacity constraints. Ensure order fulfillment metrics are met, and drive to lower lead times.
  • Manages the procurement of outside services, tracks performance, and ensures compliance with Corning site requirements
  • Manages shipping process and function to ensure on-time delivery of Corning’s products (canes, blanks and fiber) to domestic and international customers. Ensures that all shipments comply fully with government import/export regulations.
  • Manage the relationship with internal customers; collaborate with operations & engineering for issue resolution, continuous improvement, or to improve supply chain effectiveness.
  • Develops the team in an environment that supports safety, empowerment, and continuous improvement.

Required Education and Experience:

  • 学士学位(供应链Management, Technical or Business)
  • Minimum of 7 years of supply chain experience across multiple disciplines and increasing project responsibility
  • SAP knowledge and experience
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Broad experience and understanding of complex, process oriented manufacturing environments
  • Proven capability to manage, coach, direct, and develop exempt and nonexempt employees

Desired Skills:

  • Master’s in supply chain management
  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP)
  • MRP/ERP system knowledge
  • Six Sigma and Lean
  • Procurement and/or transportation experience
