Scope of Position:

The CTCSV Facilities Engineer will be responsible for the implementation all facilities & maintenance activities at the Corning Technology Center--Silicon Valley (CTCSV.) Encompasses construction, space utilization, scheduling of preventative maintenance, repair, and compliance with safety policies and regulations for buildings and grounds. Responsible for planning plant, office and production equipment layouts for economy of operation and maximum utilization of facilities and equipment. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Develops criteria and performance specifications for facilities and equipment required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.

This will include, but not limited to:

  • Coordinating and overseeing contractors performing maintenance.
  • Designing and overseeing the implementation of facility expansion, layout, various systems, and quality controls
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, building codes, and health and safety standards

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • The main duties of the position are as follows however additional responsibilities may be assigned or changed
  • Ensure safe and efficient operations and maintenance of facility.
  • Develop preventative and predictive maintenance plan.

  • Manage facilities general maintenance, building operations and repairs.
  • Develop and lead plan for improving facilities reliability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Personally inspect facility weekly for maintenance needs and safety hazards.
  • Own all facilities and maintenance SOP's and maintain their accuracy.
  • Walk facility daily and document task lists.
  • Management of Change.
  • Coordinate lab modifications and upgrades.
  • Laboratory and office inspections (manage inspectors, update periodically).
  • Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
  • Develops criteria and performance specifications for facilities and equipment required to meet unique operating requirements and building and safety codes.
  • Ensure all building repairs are completed to company standards.
  • Ensure completion of annual lab assessments.
  • Manage facility setup for events.
  • Monitor Janitorial & Day Porter tasks/performance.
  • Conduct annual Asset Inventory.
  • Engage with, participate in and lead by example safety programs and initiative.
  • Liaison between Building Management firm and Landlord/Property Manager.
  • Keep all permits current (alarm, business, etc.).
  • Work with SHE to monitor Recycling, Trash, Organic Recycling program at CTCSV.
  • Comply with ISO14001 Program requirements.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with building systems; such as HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Knowledge of OSHA/CalOSHA/ISO14001 and other relevant regulations and standards.

Education and Experience:

  • BS Degree in Engineering preferred Experience: 3-5 years in a Facilities role

The range for this position is $79,659 - $109,531. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
