Day to Day Responsibilities:

Engaging with startup companies and assessing their technology and business development focus. Engaging Corning experts who can help with assessment to gain better understanding of potential fit and develop the Corning hypothesis. Establishing and enacting best practices regarding technology scouting and assessment and follow up related to this. Maintaining database of information including notes, literature, patents, agreements, early sample testing. Potential project leadership role of business aligned effort with strong collaboration component. Engagement with Corning internal stakeholders.

Travel requirements (please note if international): Periodic travel within the US– about quarterly. International travel is not anticipated at this time.

Education and Experience (minimum required for consideration):

Advanced degree in a technology field that relates to materials science, engineering and or processing (or commensurate experience)

Strong connections to S&T leaders and innovators new business development experience

Required Skills:

Early stage technology assessment early-stage diligence of technology based startup companies Track record of establishing and maintaining external collaborations

Project leadership skills

Desired Skills:

Drafting of deal proposals and negotiation of such. It is desired that person is located on west coast, yet not required

Soft Skills:

Tenacity Strong written and oral communication skills; experience communicating with senior leadership.

Dynamic self-starter who can work independently as well as in cross-functional and cross-regional teams. Strong collaboration skillset

Making the case for path forward and driving efforts to decision points; clarifying options for pathways related to decisions
