Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Human Resource Specialist/ Human Resource Manager will provide HR support to iBwave and Corning Canada across all levels of the organization. The specialist/manager partners with the business to establish and maintain a positive work environment in support of Corning’s Values. This position is accountable for the successful implementation of global HR business processes within client groups and for ensuring compliance with HR-related legal and regulatory guidelines. The specialist/manager will also lead several cross-functional projects to design, improve, and execute core HR processes that deliver scalable solutions to employees and managers. Reporting to iBwave’s Director of HR and Recruitment, your job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

SCOPE OF POSITION:

  • Provide HR support to iBwave and Corning Canada across all levels of the organization.
  • Provide project leadership and/or team member for key cross functional HR processes critical to the COC HR project portfolio
  • Works closely with HR colleagues to deploy HR initiatives across the business

DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidance to all employees regarding policy and procedure issues, ensuring compliance with all employment laws
  • Provide process support, training and ensure timely completion for client groups on: Performance Management processes (Performance, Development & Review (PD&R), Management By Objectives (MBOs), Learning & Development plans); annual compensation processes (Annual Salary Review, Performance Incentive Plan, Long Term Incentive plan)
  • Partners with COC Recruiting and client groups to identify and implement a compelling employee value proposition that enables the client to attract and retain the number and type of talent required to close talent gaps
  • Act as HR site representative for initiatives, programs and committees requiring local HR representation
  • Support with leading /execution of select initiatives, programs or committees as needed.
  • Establish and maintain an on-site presence to keep a read on the pulse of the organization.
  • Resolves employee relations issues in a fair and consistent manner that recognizes employee needs and protects the needs of the company
  • Drive HR projects to timely completion & on budget

  • Always acts in a composed manner to deliver objective views and perspectives, decouples emotions from problem-solving actions

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, Organization Development or Labor Relations or equivalent qualification/experience

DESIRED:

  • 6+ years of HR experience (generalist/specialist or leadership development / OD) or equivalent
  • Master’s degree in Human Resources or Labor Relations or MBA an asset
  • Successful track record in the deployment of global HR business processes or programs
  • Greenbelt certification a plus

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial employment legislation
  • Strong functional HR knowledge
  • Project management experience
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
  • Effective at conflict resolution and negotiation
  • Proficient in Microsoft office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Results oriented
  • Organized, efficient
  • Self-starter capable of developing creative solutions
  • Process driven
  • Effective listener with strong coaching skills
  • Successful track record in providing functional support to the deployment of global HR business processes or programs
  • Strong follow-through, problem solving and attention to detail
  • Prior experience working in a software environment considered an asset
  • Must be fully bilingual (French & English) and must have excellent spoken and written skills in both languages
