Laser Process Development Specialist (m/f/d)

Scope of position:

From developing innovative processes to creating and evaluating technologies and IP in the international laser community, to transferring processes from the lab to a 24/7 customer tool - both the scope and detail of the tasks and the responsibilities associated with this position are unique:

Innovative and challenging - your tasks are demanding:

  • Development, analysis, and documentation of laser processes for processing various (new) materials, including glass and ceramics.
  • Application of scientific and engineering principles to build a fundamental understanding of laser interaction with different materials and advance these into innovative solutions.
  • Transfer laser processes from the lab into industrial (24/7) laser systems and support innovative engineers across all stages of innovation (ResearchàManufacturing)
  • Create innovative process and hardware solutions by being an active member of the laser processing team, working cooperatively with other scientists and engineers as well as with colleagues across all functions in the organization (RD&E, Sales, Service and Manufacturing)
  • Planning and conducting experiments to test hypotheses, along with executing theoretical analysis to explain and quantify the underlying physical mechanisms.
  • Perform process development for pre-sales customer samples.
  • Training of operators and engineers of our laser system customers
  • Machine tool buyoff tasks, including acceptance tests and ramp-up (international on-site support)

Professionally and personally - your qualifications are convincing:

  • PhD or Master’s degree in Physics, Optical Physics, Optical Engineering (or equivalent), specialized in lasers and laser processing.
  • Proven knowledge of and experience with laser-matter interactions (5+ years is desired) or promotion in a relevant field.
  • Experience with opto-mechanical systems, laser beam delivery, measurement equipment and related design and engineering principles
  • Fluent English and good German language skills
  • Data analysis skills: ability to analyze process data, identify and quantify trends, and use this information to guide improved laser process solutions (+ related tools, e.g., design of experiments)
