Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with Plant and Division Engineering, project teams, New Product Development teams, Manufacturing and Quality organizations
  • Focus on Cable capability, assurance of measurement capability (MSA), Ppk and product capability
  • Develop, implement and maintain division Quality management systems: documentation control, corrective action, and change management systems
  • Support Division Quality projects
  • Support internal and external quality audit management (TL9000)
  • Support QMS development and implementation
  • Develop and track division quality metrics
  • Generate reports and provide response to customer complaint reports
  • Conduct product, process and systems audits

Required Skills:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering
  • 2-3 yrs minimum experience in manufacturing, quality or process engineering.
  • Good data collection and analysis skills; basic understanding of statistics and control charts
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues effectively.
  • Strong facilitator, able to reach consensus within multi-functional groups.
  • Independent worker can complete a task with minimal supervision.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills
  • Sounds decision making skills
  • Experience with MS-office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
  • Familiarity with Quality Systems, audits, TL and ISO Certifications or other types of Quality certifications
  • Ability to drive projects to closure

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Optical Cable manufacturing process and product attributes
  • Knowledge or experience in MSA techiques

  • Six Sigma Black or Green Belt or DMAIC project experience.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 hrs

Travel Requirements: ~10%-25% // Majority of travel will be between OFC manufacturing sites.
