Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:

Assist with engineering support of key Enterprise and Data Center customers.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

• Work with Systems or Data Center engineers to review and interpret technical information in order to select appropriate products and solutions to meet customers’ needs

• Assist with building and testing protypes and mock-ups as required

• Work with Systems or Data Center engineers to identify potential problems and formulate solutions to resolve issues with network design, product selection and installation procedures

• Perform Intern project work to be determined at beginning of internship

• Interface with internal and external customers to obtain the necessary information to complete project work in a timely and accurate manner

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:

8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday

Required Education:

Enrolled in an Engineering Degree program GPA of 3.0 or above

Required Skills:

• Computer literate in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)

• Problem-solving skills

• Organizational skills

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks

• Ability to build relationships and interact with all levels of the organization

• Results-oriented • Flexibility - Able to change and adjust smoothly as the situation demands

Desired Skills:

• Experience using computer aided drafting tools, such as AutoCAD, Creo/ ProE or SolidWorks

• Technical writing ability with emphasis on effective presentation of detailed information
