Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Responsibilities:

• 负责领导通过projec小团队t activities involved in the research, design, planning, development and evaluation of cable designs and cable processes to meet Stakeholder requirements.
• Uses a Stage Gate process for execution of projects.
• Works with outside groups to define and implement project solutions including Product Line Management, Market Development and Manufacturing.
• Leverages internal SME’s as needed to meet deliverables, including materials, modeling, processing, cable design, testing, etc.
• Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
• Works under time and priority constraints as communicated through Cable Technology priority lists.
• Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Solves problems using rigorous application of the scientific method.

Education and Experience:

• BS in Engineering ; MS would be preferred.
• 1-5 years of experience in a development or manufacturing engineering role would be preferred.
• If a recent graduate, co-op experience is preferred.

Required Skills:

• Proficient use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint).
• Good communication and analytical skills.
• Project Leadership Skills (Project Planning, Risk Management, Requirement setting, directing team of non-direct reports etc)
• Hands on experimentation

Soft Skills:

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Personal initiative and commitment
• Organized with good planning and time management skills
• Ability to build relationships within cross functional groups; team building skills
• Positive attitude, flexible and good work ethic

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 40 hrs. per week/ typically 8-5

Travel Requirements: 10% travel potential; International travel likely
