The purpose of this Facility Technician II role is to provide electrical support to the facility by analyzing, repairing /replacing parts, electrical installations, electrical safety and troubleshooting electrical issues as needed.

This position includes significant duties such as:

  • Troubleshoots equipment breakdowns and performs mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical maintenance whenever required to ensure uninterrupted customer supply.

  • Perform work in and around Plant Electrical Switchgear and motor control centers.
  • Design and install electrical circuits that support manufacturing equipment – Includes but not limited to sizing conductor, sizing conduit, sizing short circuit protection, determining grounding requirement and installation of components in designed electrical system.
  • Analysis of motor and other electrical stoppages/interruptions and repairs as necessary, for large electrical motors and VFDs, 30HP to 400HP.
  • Reads and uses electrical measuring equipment.
  • Interpret diagrams, blueprints, and other related drawings.
  • Supports instrument repair during equipment rebuilds and installations.
  • Works with Controls Engineers to troubleshoot facilities equipment PLC programming errors or faults.
  • Repairs facilities equipment consisting of circuitry, control panels, and metering.
  • Understands how to adjust, program, troubleshoot, and install VFD’s and PLC’s as needed.
  • Test electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring.
  • Troubleshoots electrical issues with large equipment, Chillers, Compressors, Cooling Towers.
  • Makes electrical repairs to facilities equipment.
  • Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation.
  • Interpret diagrams, blueprints, and other related drawings.
  • Maintains records as required.
  • Follows standard operating procedures (SOP, WI, Forms, Flowcharts, etc.)
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements.
  • Performs other duties assigned.
  • Performs work on power distribution systems including Buss Ducts and Power distribution panels CLS/CPT
  • PM”s and general repairs to site generators
  • Supports site RO water systems.
  • Completes required preventive maintenance at defined intervals.
  • Routinely assesses the suitability of such intervals and scope covered and revises when necessary.
  • Responsible for the waste removal for hazardous materials and tools.

  • Demonstrates safe techniques and proper use of all tools.
  • Safety systems relating to working on the equipment such as Lock-Out/Tag-Out, NFPA-70 E Arc Flash, spills, and machine guarding must be followed at all times.
  • Completes production records / forms recording relevant data onto forms or via electronic data entry in Maximo or other systems.
  • Ensures accuracy and good documentation practices per company and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to industrial machinery, moving parts, electrical and other energy sources.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required including, but not limited to, lab coats, hair/beard covers, gloves, ear protection, eye protection, safety shoes etc.
  • Exposure to fumes and chemicals such as cleaners, inks, and solvents.
  • Exposure to voltages from 24 to 480.
  • Exposure to high frequency noise.
  • Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 25 pounds and up to 65 pounds rarely.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • NC Electrical license or have ability attain within 1 year of start date

Experience:

  • 5 years industrial electrical facilities experience
