Job Description:

Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW), one of the world’s leading innovators in material science, is seeking a State Senior Tax Analyst to aide in the expansion of the Company’s Tax Operations group. This position is based primarily in Corning, NY and will be reporting to the State Tax Manager, Tax Operations. In this role, the Senior State Tax Analyst will primarily be responsible for the preparation and review of US state and local tax returns, US state tax audit support, and assistance with the preparation of US Federal tax returns. Additionally, the position will focus on the state aspects of income tax accounting and reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare/review state income/franchise tax returns and workpapers (separate, combined & unitary)
  • Prepare/review state income tax apportionment and perform reconciliations.
  • Requires working with large, complex data sets for modeling and analytics and running Alteryx calculations/workflows.
  • Research and quantify various state & local tax issues
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end state income tax accounting reconciliations and calculating the state effective tax rate
  • Support state and local income/franchise tax audits- responding to IDR’s put forth by the taxing jurisdictions
  • Assist with the preparation of the Company’s federal (1120, 1065) and U.S. foreign (5471, 8858, 8865) tax forms including any tax adjustments
  • Support state and federal tax provisions
  • Develop and implement process improvements across all state functions, including automation, refinements to current workpapers, enhanced workflows, reporting systems and related internal controls
  • Responsible for overseeing state cash forecasting including the preparation of extensions and quarterly estimates
  • Assist with tax department projects such as tax credits and incentives

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Finance with 3-5 years’ experience in Finance related area
  • CPA desirable but not required

Required Skills:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Power Point, SharePoint
  • 2-5+ years’ state and local income/franchise work experience.
  • Understand fundamentals of state income/franchise tax such as apportionment, nexus, unitary vs combined reporting and state modifications

Desired Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and related pronouncements preferred
  • Audit or public accounting experience
  • Experience with OneSource, Alteryx, Peoplesoft and/or SAP Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple tasks with varying deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Confident in decision making ability
  • Ability to interact independently with peers and management
  • Possess excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The range for this position is $77,578.00 - $106,670.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
