Scope of Position:

The Research Scientist is responsible for advancing our fundamental understanding of electrical and electromagnetic field interaction with various materials through model development and simulations. This includes topics such as modeling current flow, electrostatic charging, induction heating, charged particles, and signal propagation. The candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering with expertise in mathematics and numerical simulation. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively across multiple organizations in Research, Development, Engineering and Manufacturing.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Break down technical electrical and materials engineering challenges into tractable models and simulations to identify potential problems, define suitable operating conditions, and optimize designs.

  • Validate the model results with experimental or manufacturing results by working alongside experimentalists.
  • Attend project meetings, provide modeling updates and interpret results to address real-world problems.
  • Document critical results in technical reports and patents.

Education and Experience:Masters or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Electrochemistry, or a related field

Required Skills:

  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of electrical properties of bulk materials and/or surfaces.
  • Experience in modeling and simulation techniques for solving Maxwell’s equations applied to a variety of materials and devices.
  • Experience in code development and simulation analysis.

Desired Skills:

  • Problem solving skills including developing and testing hypotheses on product or process related issues.
  • Knowledge of numerical simulation software such as ANSYS HFSS/Maxwell/Charge, COMSOL, Microwave 3D Studio, and open-source code such as OpenFOAM.
  • Knowledge of high-performance computing and large-scale data analysis.
  • A strong record of peer-reviewed journal publications.
  • Experience in a specific area that merges the electrical performance of materials, such as electrostatic charge generation and discharge, metamaterials, electrical shielding, signal propagation through materials, or transmission line analysis.

Soft Skills:

  • Must be self-motivated and demonstrate strong curiosity of the technical work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Respect others and be willing to work across diverse cultures.
  • Able to work both independently and with a team.
