Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Develops and/or assists with Strategic Sourcing plans/strategies and objectives (short & long term) based on forecasts of future demand and taking into account economic and currency trends and conditions that affect Product &Technology, the business, and the global commodity sourced.
  • Furnish market conditions, pricing, shortages or technical information to divisional procurement and business responsible and makes recommendations
  • Leads the development and communication of global supply intelligence for assigned commodities. (i.e. Market intelligence, should cost modeling, low cost sourcing activities, consortiums, etc.)
  • Recommend and implement process change and enablers required to shift current fragmented spend and project procurement to a category management methodology
  • Identify, lead and communicate cost reduction opportunities across multiple plants and businesses
  • To carry out the negotiations for key suppliers and ensure adequate contract cover within the portfolio with divisional sourcing resources to be compliant with the Global Delegation of Authorities/Signatories policy.
  • Works with the Business Supply Managers, Global Strategic Sourcing Managers, and Divisional procurement Buyers on developing and executing Shared objectives

  • Conducts negotiations with potential and/or current major suppliers to obtain maximum value in terms of packaging specification and design.
  • Owns the Supplier Relationship Management process for the assigned commodities and developing and cultivates effective relationships with key suppliers.

Scope of Position:

  • Reporting to Global Strategic Sourcing Manager – Packaging, this role will lead the strategic procurement activities for packaging categories for the NAFTA based businesses (Life science, Environment, Pharmaceutical, Optical fiber and connectivity), and selected global categories (Paper and Resin based packaging materials).
  • The role will develop and drive procurement strategies around various packaging, will look for opportunities to rationalize our supply base, and bring cost-effective procurement to the businesses by centralizing the strategic sourcing element of this activity.
  • The role will work closely with a wide internal Customers base as well as other Functional Service leaders in order to identify business and functional customers’ priorities and closely align with business/functional strategies. In many cases these activities will be performed as part of a cross-functional team, but the incumbent will lead the process and be responsible for implementing solutions.
  • Packaging Material Knowledge: Proficiency in flexible, corrugated, rigid and distribution packaging materials, understands packaging processes relative to supplier operations, manufacturing, engineering and supply chain.
  • Understands packaging commodity indexes for plastics, paper, corrugated and wood.

Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time:As the job requires which may exceed 40 hours a week with travel

Travel Requirements:(Please note if international) 20% travel commitment, this could include travel to Europe and Asia along with the necessary domestic travel
