The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

SCOPE OF POSITION:Configure and support network devices and solutions to align with Corning’s technology standards and meet the connectivity needs of our businesses.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as network analyst, provide operational and project support for network devices and services, ensuring that our networks (LAN, WAN and WiFi) maintain a highly available status
  • Support network solutions including switching, routing, load balancing, network optimization, software defined networking, circuit management/telecom connectivity. For these services the candidate will be:
  • Deploying, maintaining and administering network environments in datacenters and distributed sites, including managing network hardware, software, circuits and tools
  • Actively monitoring network devices, circuits, capacity and performance, and help with capacity planning
  • Ensuring the health of the environment. Perform troubleshooting, fault isolation, and recovery of failed network components or services.
  • Participating in root cause analysis on incidents, helping to drive identification of preventative actions meant to ensure problems don’t recur, and delivering on the tasks within those actions
  • Creating, reviewing, and updating operations guides/runbooks, ensuring those are current, complete, and correct
  • Contributing to network planning, engineering, architecture and deployment initiatives.
  • Participating in lifecycle management of circuits and network hardware, replacing outdated equipment, OS versions and/or configurations, and upgrading all to the latest network standards and architecture.
  • Tracking and analyzing the commissioning and decommissioning of network assets and ensuring Asset Inventory is current, complete and correct
  • Providing input to improve processes and standards and to optimize the environment.

EDUCATION and WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-year degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience implementing, supporting and troubleshooting network devices/functions/tools/processes in an enterprise environment.
  • 2+ years supporting in datacenter network environments.
  • 2+ year performing WAN network functions in a distributed corporate environment

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Software Defined Network/Software Defined WAN (SDN/SDWAN)
  • Automation, Programming/Scripting languages (Python, Ansible, etc.) & Orchestration
  • Cisco ISE, network access control and segmentation
  • Experience using monitoring/alerting/forensic tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Prime, NNMI, NetBrain,
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network or network security infrastructure devices
  • Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Ability to work with staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization
  • Solid communications, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Willingness to learn
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work in team environment and motivate others
  • Must be willing to be on call available for after-hours support and an on-call rotation as defined by the team for any of the position responsibilities listed above.

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • CCNA Certification
  • Experience with scripting languages/toolchain automation products such as Python, Ansible, Terraform etc.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols including BGP and OSPF
  • Understanding of pertinent frameworks, including ITIL, NIST and COBIT
  • Knowledge of network security
  • Experience assessing network capacity and consumption

TRAVEL:

  • Up to 10% travel required, generally in North America.
