Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Scope of Position:实习生work within the Capabilities Portfolio Management group in Division Engineering and will interact with project teams across the division to learn manufacturing processes, communication, project management, and modeling capability.

Responsibilities:

  • Support modelers in identified projects to learn modeling workflow and requirements.
  • Develop understanding of OCS manufacturing processes and products needed to complete key project deliverables.
  • Draw conclusions from developed data sets to help project teams identify cost and capacity opportunities for allocation of engineering efforts.
  • Be active and contributing member of identified project team, attending project meetings, accountable for assigned activities.
  • Document activities and projects to provide a formal presentation on experience and key learnings at the end of the internship.

Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled in a 4 year (Industrial, Mechanical) Engineering degree program, or other related degree areas.
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Relevant experience a plus

Required Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced knowledge of excel and Microsoft Suite
  • Confident to step in and lead discussions with those with more experience.
  • Data analysis skills
  • Tableau experience a plus
